You can visit primay-health-care.net to gain an appreciation of the domains of health. I will list them here for easy reference and target bringing you web-based sources for your further ‘contemplation’ on these important concepts.
- Physical- one which we relate to the most in a western orientation.
- Ecological- Relationship to all things natural and our environments, internal and external.
- Emotional- ways that our perceptions and interpretation of events have on our feelings and brain chemistry
- Intellectual- more than how much knowledge we have gained but how we regulate, (and change) our though processes.
- Social- how we interact, behave and are valued, in our roles and positions in society.
- Inter-relational- more personal and “authentic” than social, typically how you function as family member and close friend.
- Cultural- typically associated with lifeways from one’s heritage, but could be social norms of professional groups or in a broader context, an example is the culture of nursing, as compared to the larger health care culture.
- Last but not least- the Spiritual domain- for some, a sensitive topic, but one that is getting increased coverage, and interpretation from multiple media sources. We will give you a great example here
